On the last leg of my journey to create 100 oil on birch panels for my 2017 Tom Project
I am on the last leg to finish the official final 10 boards in my creation of 100 oil on birch boards for my 2017 Tom Project, "Through Tom's eyes, a discovery of truth, light and colour"
What a journey it has been; researching both in print and archival images through the support of The Friends of Algonquin Park, visiting the McMichael Art Collection to see Tom Thomson's paintings up close and personal, and the best adventure of just being outside to paint en plein air with painting buddies.
I am very thankful for the support of Terri Howell, my matchstick and main supporter through this whole journey. Her connections with Kevin Clute and the Friends of Algonquin Park opened doors for us to get permission to access the archives for research. She has driven us out to locations to paint with her Park pass always at the ready but mostly for her encouragement to just keep going.
Officially I am creating 100 boards, unofficially 110 in honour of my grampa Grimes who taught me as a child that anything worth doing requires 110 percent effort.
The first official viewing of all 100 paintings will be in January 2017 in the Chapel Gallery at Muskoka Arts and Crafts in Bracebridge with my opening reception from 1:00-4:00 pm on January 21, 2017.
